Yesterday, I was asked to fetch a mewing kitten from under an elderly neighbors home. When I brought the frightened little thing to my neighbor (after crawling around in the cobwebs under her house for nearly half an hour), she said to take it to the pound, as it wasn't hers. As if! A Siamese mix of sorts, this little purring bundle now goes by Dah Ling. She has weepy eyes and can barely see from the infection, but we will soon rectify that.

Dah Ling barely weighs a half pound, but I think she's about 4 or 5 months old. She's lost that "kitten" fluff that younger kittens have, and seems to have a maturity of an older more experienced cat. Cochise can't ruffle her feathers what so ever, as she just ignores his attempts to get her to run from him and he really freaked out when instead, she snuggled right up to him and promptly went to sleep. I am no expert on cats however. What age would you suggest she is?

Dah Ling settled right in with us, preferring to sleep on top of my bed pillows. How could anyone not be smitten with the little crescent stripe on her nose, complimented by the knee high mittens on all four of her paws?

Dah Lings eyes need constant cleaning and drops of saline solution to help them clear up. Hopefully she won't have any permanent vision loss because of someones loveless neglect. Breaks my heart to think someone abandoned this sweet and helpless little darling!!

I always thought that Siamese cross bred with other cats threw black kittens with white markings. Dah Ling has a soft high "mew" that is anything but Siamese too. She obviously isn't a pure bred...so what would you guess she is?

Smitten!! There is no other word for it. I am completely and totally smitten with this tiny half pound baby!!!! She is already using a litter box (cardboard lined with a plastic bag for now), comes when called, and constantly (constantly!!!) purrs as if her quiet little motor will never stop.

Dah Ling is 3 pounds today! Awesome considering she was a little over a half pound only two weeks ago. Her eyes are almost clear, though we are still fighting mites in her ears. Any suggestions?

It happens time and again. You would think he would learn!

I sooooo hate litter boxes. However, due to the cold region I live, going outside isn't a very good option for a kitten. Teaching Dah Ling to go on the toilet seems the only reasonable option. A small aluminum turkey pan cut to size and a couple hand fulls of kitty litter begins the training. I will cut a small hole in the bottom of the pan, and enlarge it as she gets used to it, until there is not bottom left and she is simply going on the toilet. That's the idea anyhow lol. Cross your fingers it works!!!
