The trail I have walked all summer is barely lit by the first rays of morning light. It's sad to move from a place you've loved, but exciting just the same.

It takes ages to unpack and get everything put in it's place. Somethings don't find a home for days, weeks even.

I spent the entire day raking up leaves so our new neighbors don't hate us lol. The front yard was every bit as bad, if not worse than the back.

This ground is hard as nails, so we had to rent a huge auger. Even then...

This is what they call New Zealand fencing in this area, which is a barbless heavy duty wire.

Snug up against the Sierras, we are now directly under the storm clouds as they blow over the ridges.

We sit at approx. 4800 feet here. These mountain ridges are exactly behind Lake Tahoe (east side), with Heavy Peak on the far left.

Chuckers are one of the many quail varieties that live in the Sierras.

Jeff is fairly tall, so you get a good idea how big this girl is!

We are so glad (& relieved) to finally have the girls home too!! Kind of makes this move final.

Having lived in Placerville, at 2400 ft, Pollock Pines at 4,200 ft, I now live on the other side of Tahoe at 4,800 ft, just west of Minden in that green belted area.

The red circle marks the high desert I hiked out the back of our place in the pics in this album. Monument Peak to the right of Heavenly towers above us at 10,067 ft.
