Joy!

Davi truly enjoys his preliminary flights these days, though he still hangs on for dear life. Keeping my hands fully around him seems to help build up his confidence, but we are taking it slow just the same.

Those claws are virtually unusable when a parrot chick is first hatched. Much like human babies, they learn to use them over time. Davi is still discovering his feet/claws...very cute really. He has figured out how to perch with them, clutches automatically with them if he is feeling insecure, nibbles on his toes, and will watch himself reach out with his feet, but has yet to open and close them in a deliberate grasp. Another week or two and he will be expert at holding things.

Reading your reply above made me laugh thinking about how clumsy our baby bird was when she was growing her feathers - your description is so cute, it totally brings
