Potty Training

I sooooo hate litter boxes. However, due to the cold region I live, going outside isn't a very good option for a kitten. Teaching Dah Ling to go on the toilet seems the only reasonable option. A small aluminum turkey pan cut to size and a couple hand fulls of kitty litter begins the training. I will cut a small hole in the bottom of the pan, and enlarge it as she gets used to it, until there is not bottom left and she is simply going on the toilet. That's the idea anyhow lol. Cross your fingers it works!!!

Re: Potty Training
Someone who also did this with their cats advised me to never flush the toilet when the cat is on it, or the cat will never go there again. Thumbs up

Re: Potty Training
I'd like to know how your idea works out. I have a fairly young cat I wouldn't mind trying to train to use the toilet. Keep me posted please.

Re: Potty Training
It is already working very well. I have cut a small 1" hole in the bottom of the aluminum pan on the side, and she doesn't mind it much. At first, the fizzing of the kitty litter (as it hit the water below), sort of caught her attention, but she soon figured out it was nothing to be wary of.

She is the cutest kitty ever and she's learning to use an actual toilet? Awesome! None of mine ever did that! Best of luck with it!!!

Re: Potty Training
When the pan is gone, you can start teaching her to flush.
But ... one step at a time. Smiling

The reason i think you can teach her to flush is because I saw a video, that someone sent me, showing an adult cat pressing the handle down and then watching the water go down the drain. This went on for 4-5 flushings. I laughed & laughed. One could probably still find it on the internet.
