Posted at 23 Nov 2019 at 5:56PM by Churchgoer Re: The farmhouse Yes it's our very, very, very cold house due to lack of insulation. It was built in 1898 but I would've thought the owners would've insulated it when they did the siding. It's on about 3 acres out in the country, so I can sit on that front porch naked and nobody would see me. It's SO rural that the mailbox is out on a major 2 lane highway, and packages have to be picked up in town.... Posted at 23 Nov 2019 at 6:35PM by Abby Normal Re: The farmhouse Nice looking house.

Posted at 26 Nov 2019 at 2:13AM by bookfox Re: The farmhouse Central heating??? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA No, electric baseboard and a furnace in the living room. Yeah you read that correctly, in the living room. We have space heaters in almost every room downstairs (where I reside), and Dennis has baseboard upstairs. (He doesn't get cold like I do.) And get this, the house has NO INSULATION. So when it finally gets cold and stays cold, it'll be just like camping! Won't THAT be fun? HA HA HA HA Posted at 26 Nov 2019 at 3:35AM by Abby Normal Re: The farmhouse Oh my goodness, I got cold just reading that. Brrr! Why would you move somewhere like that??? But so glad you have the space heaters, at least.
Posted at 28 Nov 2019 at 1:04AM by bookfox Re: The farmhouse It's not as cold in here as you'd think. We've got the furnace and baseboard heating. We lived in Alexandria. An 80 year old woman was mugged on the sidewalk right outside our place. The police helicopters were hovering around every weekend looking for suspects. They'd come by and tell you not to go out. Cars would drive by with Latino music SO LOUD you could feel it in the floor. Same with rap. MS-13 members 2 streets over. I never went out unless I was getting in a car to go elsewhere, and NOT AT NIGHT. Here, the loudest sound I hear is the train. I'm surrounded by 3 acres of land and trees. I can see deer in the HUGE field in front of me, along with a host of other critters. We live at the end of the lane with absolutely no neighbors. I can blast music as loud as I please, rattle my OWN windows and vibrate my OWN floors with no help from passing cars. The cool part is the grocery store is only about a mile away and the doctor is literally 4 minutes from here. You tell ME why we moved. I would wear my fleece jammies, they're always too hot no matter how cold it is here!!! Posted at 6 Dec 2019 at 9:49PM by Churchgoer (You must be logged in to post comments) |
