Posted by fatdaddy on 14 Jan 2025 at 12:33AM was written by Joni Mitchell in 1966. She was inspired while reading "Henderson the Rain King" by Saul Bellow. The recording "Joni Mitchell: Live from the Second Fret 1966" is where it appears first. In 1967 Judy Collins included it on her 1967 "Wildflowers" album and that same version was released in 1968 as a top 10 single. Joni's first studio version of the song is on her 1969 album "Clouds".
