Every team suffers injuries but Packers lost Kraft, Jenkins, Wyatt and then Parsons and Tom, all of whom were playing at or had the potential to be
All Pro candidates. They still came within a miracle throw of beating the Bears. MLF needs to improve play calls and strategy but does have the support of the players and management.

That deep shot Caleb took which got picked off was really ill-advised and cost them the game. Up until that point, he had been moving the chains with the run game and short passes and getting them closer to FG range. It wasn't even close to the receiver either. It was ill-advised and a bad throw. He is so wild. Because he can make those crazy circus TD passes like he did to get them to OT. But then he gets to thinking he can do anything. Sometimes you have to play incremental, methodical football to win the game.

All good thoughts. Real answer is for "fans" in other cities to boycott games. When dodgers come to town, no one shows up. They are making a joke out of the sport.

Ruining! And it's ridiculous. They're making George Steinbrenner look like a socialist. It's destroying the competitive balance of the sport. And if ninety percent of the teams already feel like they have no chance before the season even starts, then what's the point? It's going to have to be addressed for the next bargaining agreement.

No more deferred money! And for every hundred million you spend, you should lose a first round draft pick. If you give a free agent 300 hundred million, you lose your next three consecutive first round draft picks. And those draft picks should go to the team with the lowest payroll. MLB should also have their version of Bird Rights like in the NBA where the team you're already with can offer you the most money.

After another huge signing, their payroll will be about $400M and pay another 175+M in Luxury tax. So much for any possibility of other low payroll teams competing. Will this force the owners and players to agree on some type of revenue sharing and salary cap? It works in both the NFL and NBA.

No. The offense in the third period was predictable and did nothing. By the 4th quarter, the defense was exhausted. Another game of LaFleur playing conservative and blowing a big lead.
(#5738451) Re: NFL Playoffs

Isn't that more of an indictment on the defense?
(#5738346) Re: NFL Playoffs

I think he gets 1 more year. They counted on Parsons to play great and he did until the ACL. We then lost every game. You can't blame him for a fumbled on side kick that might have changed the season. I would not give him an extension though.

Carolina gave the Rams all they could handle. Too bad their defense couldn't get a stop at the end. They were about to pull off a massive upset. But Stafford is the gold standard in those game winning drive situations,

Posted by JerNYC on 10 Jan 2026 at 7:13PM
Everything starts today. Carolina Panther, your team is finally back in the postseason, albeit in an improbable fashion. Some would say the least deserving, but that also makes them potentially the most dangerous. Anything can happen. I think it's a great time for fans of every team because there are no overwhelming favorites. It's a wide open field.
GOOD LUCK Enjoy the game .

Vegas has poor management and no coach (yet). Good players have gone there but leave. Jets have a loyal fan base in spite of losing and hold more potential than the loaded NFC West.
(#5737948) Re: Fernando Mendoza
Posted by JerNYC on 10 Jan 2026 at 5:10AM
Why so down on Las Vegas? The Raiders are a storied franchise. And not nearly as cursed and snake-bit as the Jets. Let's not forget that in one year this kid just took one of the biggest joke programs in Div 1 football history and has them on the doorstep of a national championship. It would also make the AFC West the most loaded QB division in the NFL. Imagine Patrick Mahomes rehabbing that torn ACL and seeing three much younger, super talented QBs nipping at his heels. Bo Nix or Justin Herbert right now could lead their teams to the SB.
(#5737942) Re: Fernando Mendoza
Posted by golfnutrof on 10 Jan 2026 at 2:54AM
Right now he would be the Raiders first pick...and perhaps the demise of what could be a great career elsewhere. Can he pull off an Eli Manning and refuse to go to Vegas? Even the Jets would potentially be better long term.

I haven't seen a college QB demolish everything in his path like this since Joe Burrow at LSU. There's just nobody on Indiana's level right now. They are making really, really good teams look silly and really, really good coaches look stupid.

Look at a slo-mo replay. Love ducked, and was partly to blame for helmet-to-helmet hit.
(#5732689) Re: Packers - Bears
Posted by golfnutrof on 21 Dec 2025 at 3:20AM
Why wasn't Booker ejected for the clearly intentional helmet hit to Love's head? Is Ben Johnson paying players to take out opponents?
(#5731493) Re: Packers - Bears
Posted by JerNYC on 15 Dec 2025 at 1:27AM
I think torn ACLs for QBs don't usually affect them too much when they come back, but for an elite pass rusher, I'm not sure. I think WRs are usually never the same. RBs sometimes come back better than before like Adrian Peterson and Saquon Barkley.
(#5731490) Re: Packers - Bears

If Micah is out, we may still get a wild card but that will be it for this year. Injuries almost always determines who makes it to the SB.
(#5731489) Chiefs Dynasty/Season Over
Posted by JerNYC on 15 Dec 2025 at 1:14AM
It all went down in flames today, including Mahomes' knee. All dynasties come to an end. This reminds me of the Golden State Warriors in 2020. They were able to reload in two years to win one more championship for Curry. It'll be interesting to see if the Chiefs can get Mahomes back into the SB. They weren't a bad team this year, they just didn't have the magic anymore to win those close games. Kelce will go retire and most likely start a family with Taylor Swift.
(#5731482) Re: Packers - Bears
Posted by JerNYC on 15 Dec 2025 at 12:19AM
Great game but some brutal injuries for GB. Hope that was just a hyper-extended knee for Micah otherwise probably a torn ACL.

Parsons wants to get to Nix, but will the refs actually do something about all the holds that don't get called.
(#5730600) Re: Packers - Bears
Posted by JerNYC on 10 Dec 2025 at 9:36PM
That's right, I just saw them talking about it on ESPN. I didn't realize they were playing each other this week. They said this will be the toughest defense GB has faced this year. A good test for both teams.

This week will answer that question.
(#5730474) Re: Packers - Bears

I think the Broncos are for real. They have enough of everything. They haven't been this good since they had Peyton and they have a young QB who's a lot more mobile.
(#5730183) Re: Packers - Bears
Posted by golfnutrof on 8 Dec 2025 at 3:49PM
NE and DEN lead the AFC but neither team is really impressive so anyone who gets on can win. Houston had a great defense and could make it. Can Allen and the Bills start playing like they really want it? And Jax could be a spoiler as well. Poor IND is toast!
In the NFC, Rams look like the best but have a history of collapsing. SEA, GB, PHI and CHI all could make it as well. Who knows for sure and you know the NFL brass and refs want to keep it close right to the end.
(#5730120) Re: Packers - Bears

I don't think the NFL has been this wide open since before Tom Brady. When was the last time it wasn't a given who at least one of the teams in the Super Bowl would be? The Chiefs and Mahomes are done. It really feels like both conferences are up for grabs.

I thought we'd get some Blue Jays or Mariners fans popping up. That is some ALCS they're having. And everyone might be writing either of them off against the Dodgers who are looking like the scariest team ever assembled but Blue Jays and Mariners are battle tested. I'm rooting for Big Dumper! I hope he gets the MVP too. I love Judge and he's extremely deserving when you look at all his stats. But Big Dumper had a Roger Maris-like season that captured everyone's imagination. As a catcher! And he's been just as great in the postseason.

He looked pretty good out there. I mean say what you will about preseason but not many rookies light it up like that. He's definitely not going to be a deer in headlights or intimidated by defenses and that's half the mental battle right there. And we already know he's not afraid to get sacked. He's not fragile. Because you are going to get sacked. And some guys like Tua shatter like Humpty Dumpty.

Since he is rookie, I doubt if can make MVP. He could be with his talent. With the Browns he may win Rookie of the Year. I saw he scored 2 touchdown against the Panthers which doesn't much unfortunatly. But is preseason though.
