(#5637175) Re: Rule when player has only static pieces remaining?

I can now report from direct experience that when a player loses their last non-static piece, they lose the game immediately. Which is how it ought to be, I think.

Regardless of whether the written rules are updated to make this explicit, future players who are confused on this point can now get the answer by reading this thread. You're welcome, future players.

Thanks again for the responses, Eggy. Case closed, I guess.

Thanks for the reply, Eggy. The analogous rule in chess is that when one player has no legal moves available but their king isn't in check, the game is a draw (i.e., "stalemate"). So, Animosity could be similar. The point is that a player approaching this situation for the first time (e.g., me) needs to know what the rule is, because that knowledge will affect how I play.

I don't think that section you mentioned, which I had read before posting, covers the point explicitly enough, since it doesn't rule out the draw possibility. In addition, the player isn't forfeiting moves in the scenario I outlined. Rather, they don't have any moves available to either make or forfeit.

A clear statement of win and draw conditions is always to be desired, don't you think?

I am not familiar with the game ,but looked at the rules and I believe # 5 covers this situation- #5 Any player who forfeits three turns in a row also forfeits the game in other words the player with only static pieces is forced to pass their turn , after the 3rd pass they lose the game
(#5637005) Rule when player has only static pieces remaining?

As far as I can tell, the written rules don't cover the situation when one of two players remaining has only static pieces (e.g. flag and quicksand) remaining but hasn't as yet lost their flag. Is the rule mandatory passes for this player until the other player wins? This would be sensible, I think. I hope it's not declared a draw. Either way, the written rules should probably include this.
