to
Mecir, we have added several site features to Head to Head (HTH) and regular games, clubs and tournaments:
Head-To-Head Improvements
As you may have noticed already, the topmost icon set now includes a new entry - Head-To-Head (of course, the turn-based games that we all love to play will still remain available).
This is the new central place for administering the Head-To-Head games (HTH). Upon entering, you can see all other players who are currently present in the room, and you can invite them for a HTH game. Currently, Checkers and all variants are available.
All the lists on this page are auto-updating - when someone new enters (or leaves) the room, the user list will update itself. When you get invited to a game, the invite appears on top of the page.
Furthermore, when you accept an invite, you get redirected onto the newly formed automatically. If your opponent is still viewing the HTH page at that time, he will automatically get redirected to the new game as well. If he is viewing some other page, he'll get redirected as soon as he enters the HTH page.
And that's still not all! Every ongoing Head-to-Head game is displayed on that screen as well, and you can watch a game of your choice in real-time. Just leave it open in your browser, and the game board will automatically be updating for you, as the players are making their moves!
Also, we have included an optional fast mode for our HTH games. In this mode, the moves get instantly saved as soon as you make them - no need to scroll down to the Save button. It also means that an undo functionality is not available in this mode. This is currently only available for friendly games, but will soon be standard in HTH tournaments.
Please note: You can no longer initiate HTH games from the standard "New Game" screen and will need to use this Head-To-Head page for that. Which of course requires presence of at least one other person to work.
All Game Improvements
- In the options for each game, you'll now find a new one - "Print Move List". Surprisingly enough, this will print your move list, when pressed. It works on any game, including those that you are not playing in.
- It is now possible to start games in a so-called "open mode". When a game is in open mode, anyone will be able to read the in-game messages, as well as add their own. Great for kibitzing! Note: Open mode is not a default setting and is available for friendly games only (including Head-to-Head ones).
Club Improvements
- The list of changed subscribed boards now includes the club name
- The list of clubs shown on a player's profile now also displays the player's roles within that club, if any
- The Club Information box where you can write the text for the main club page is bigger now
- Added notification on the club president options page about the implications of setting the seat order to Club Ladder
- Attempting to access a personal or club wiki when one is not the owner/member now displays an access denied message, instead of attempting to create a site-wide wiki of the same name
- If club ladders are enabled, the player is notified that they'll be added into one upon joining a club team
- The club profile editor is now separated from the rest of the profile settings
- The club profile editor now has a preview option
Tournament Improvements
- The addition of Swiss Style Tournaments.
Say, isn't GoldToken simply the best ?!!
