once You've gotten a decent area conquered, start watching for players that have very few armies left. If You're the one that knocks them out of the game, You get all the cards they currently have. If, between You, You have enough cards to turn some in, You will have that option in that same turn, and can keep going.

It's not a very nice way to play, but it IS viable 8^)
