Either you are trying to build a GAMI, or you are defending against your opponent achieving a GAMI. That is determined by whether you are the first player to go (offensive) or second player (defender). A mistake by the offensive player can reverse these positions. It is important to realize what position you are in. As the defender, don't concentrate on making a GAMI but concentrate on making a blocking move to each move by the offensive player.
