GoldToken's Monthly News

Promotion

I am pleased to announce that heyred72 is now officially a GoldToken Assistant Manager! After several years working her way up through the ranks, she can answer any questions you have and will be an integral part in helping our wonderful site run smoothly. Be sure to let her know how valuable she is to all of us on GoldToken!

Unveiling Plateau!

Plateau is a fun board game for two players, with the goal of building stacks of pieces and removing opponent's ones - the full rules are fairly complex.

Sign up for a chance to win your own copy of the actual game by joining The Aug 2012 — New game, Plateau Tournament today!
Thanks go to the Plateau creator - jalbea - for his tremendous help with getting this game up and running. Be sure and let him know how much we all appreciate his time and effort!

Recognition Tokens

I am sure you have seen them on player profiles. In fact, you probably have a few on your own profile too! Old coins that say Thanks written on a blackboard for your being such a grand part of GoldToken's gaming community.

Have you played on GoldToken for 1 year or more, won a site contest or tournament, been an Olympic President, or played in the GoldToken Olympics? If so, you have earned one or more of these special reward Offer silver token Tokens for your profile and many of them have been placed there already!

Thanks to Mecir for the auto placement of our anniversary and Olympic Tokens! Thanks also to our management team, who did their best to manually add the others that could not be added through an auto system. An enormous task! Our fabulous team did their best and we hope that everyone's happy. There might still be a few instances however, where a few tokens were missed. Unfortunate, but uncontrolable.

Because we have plans to use these Tokens in a future event, you will want to be sure you hold all the Tokens you deserve. Please take the time to look in GoldToken's Info page titled Recognition Tokens - GoldToken's Treasure Trove, to see which Tokens you might also qualify for, and send GoldToken Support a message with your request to have these applied to your profile.

  • Do Not Delay! Due to our upcoming plans to utilize these Tokens, as of August 15th 2012, there will be a 30 day moratorium to collect past due Tokens.

Inner ~VS~ Inter-Club Challenges

There has been some confusion regarding Inner ~VS~ Inter-club challenges. Hopefully, this explanation will help: Inner club challenges are those for members of the club only. Inter-club challenges are those that pit your club against another club. You are competing as an individual player against your club members when playing Inner club ladders and Inner club matches. Your club is competing against other clubs when in Inter-Club ladders and Inter-Club matches.

Signature Goldies

We are slowly adding Signature Goldies for as many players possible, but it's no simple task. They are being created for all Platinum players first (be patient Plat's, we have made it through the B's lol) and offered as prizes throughout the month to give everyone a chance to own one. If you are interested in obtaining a Signature Goldie of your own, watch the Discussion Boards and your game sheet news for contest announcements.

Congratulations to Specialsteel, Redhairchick, Pegasus and ;;wg;; for winning the various contests held for Signature Goldies this last month. High five

Have a wonderful month and play like you mean it!

Game Of The Month

August's game of the month is GoldFences! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The August 2012 - Game of the Month - GoldFences Tournament! Have fun

GoldFences - Basic strategy for two players., by jbdobie

Since GoldFences is probably unlike any other game you have played, you may feel lost when starting out. You can move your piece, or place two fences. Which to choose? The board may seem endless at first even though it is only 9x9. And what should you do with these weird fences?

Most games are decided by the play of the fences.

The most intuitive strategy is probably to play your fences to block your opponents forward progress. Partly because you must always leave your opponent a path to his end goal, and because fences in front of you also block you, this strategy needs some modification.

The most effective strategy at this time, is to place the fences behind you. What you are trying to do with this strategy is two fold. One is to block your opponents forward progress. Secondly and most importantly, you want to prevent your opponent from closing off the area in front and to the side of you, forcing you to back up and go around all the fences. If this happens to you, or you do it to your opponent, the game is as good as over. You want to close off the area behind you so that the only direction you can go is toward your goal. Against an uninformed opponent you can win many games just knowing this much. Try it out.

Most of my games of GoldFences seem to go this way. Each side starts with a few tentative steps toward the center, followed by a flurry of fences being played behind us. My games have us each blocking off the same side of the board so that each of us are fighting over the same path out of there. However, playing so that each piece is going along a different side of the board should be possible. Since this is a young game there is room to try out different strategies. Who knows? The strategy you come up with may soon be the new favorite! Smiling

We hope you enjoy it!

bunch of green grape
pint of blueberries
Cantaloupe

Cut the watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew in small bite size. Add to the bowl. Cut the strawberries in half or if small leave whole. Add to the bowl the apples. slice the kiwi use a whole slice or half the slice. Pour in the yogurt mix and fold** in covering the fruit.

You can also add in raspberries, blackberries or and other fruit you like. Also you can top with coconut or toasted coconut. Keep cold.

*You can also make this without the yogurt just bring to a boil half a cup of water and a cup of sugar with a quarter teaspoonful of lemon juice with a pinch of salt. Cool and pour over the fruit.

**With the soft fruit you want to gently fold and not mix you do not want to hurt the fruit.

Testimonial Of The Month
Brought to you by: *GoldToken* Players

I am disabled and not able to work or get out of the house much, and this site keeps me busy. I am on here day and nite playing my games and running my club I just recently started. I have met many good friends here. I can't imagine life without GoldToken. You might say I'm addicted to Gold Token.

I do so love GoldToken. You might say it's my life. I go to bed early so I can get up early and be here. You have probably heard people say they don't know what they did before computers came along, well that's true, and I don't know what I did before GoldToken came along. There are so many dear sweet and kind people here, they are like family to me. It was really exciting at Christmas time when I received around 30 Christmas cards from people here. I had them all up on the wall in front of my computer, they looked so pretty.

Thank you for all you do to keep this site running for all of us here at Gold Token. I do hope it brings you great happiness also!

New_Club

{ Club } is a new club and even tho there is not a game on Gold Token with this name, it has been submitted to support to consider for release in the future. But that does not stop Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe from his favorite game. Knights of the Air? It's a World War I aerial combat game where each player is a pilot of a single aircraft who fly's around the gaming board shooting down his enemies, bombing bridges, doing photo recon missions, strafing enemy trenches and/or enemy aerodromes. Currently there are stats for almost 40 different aircraft and he is in the final stages of re-editing the rules. Several members have already joined and are already playing the game. A printed gaming board was made with aircraft counters and sent to several members, they program their movement/fire orders and then message them to each other. They all then move the aircraft on their respective gaming boards and then conduct combat. If hits are scored, they are noted, also ammo expenditures are noted. When an aircraft has been hit enough times and has used up all its damage points it is considered shot down.

If you are interested in the game or even want to talk war, this is the place to be, contact the owner Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe he would be glad to tell you about the game and welcome you into the squadron.

New_Club

Carol91859 has started a walking club. Anyone who is interested in walking, or exercise in general is welcome to join! AS soon as they get enough members they will also offer inter-club challenges and Tournaments. So hate to exercise, or hate to exercise alone, come join in the fun. { Club }

Congratulations goes to { Club } they celebrate their 10th anniversary on August 28th. Well done
