• Try out our Beta!

I know it's felt like an empty year, but Mecir has really put in the hours to design this much needed full site revision for your playing enjoyment. ! A revision that will enable us to do all sorts of fun things! As we near completion of our database rewrite, we invite all Gold & Platinum members to check out GoldToken's beta site at http://beta.goldtoken.com/. Play a game or two - maybe try out our upcoming new game . Being our text website, you won't find functioning ladders, but you will notice a faster page load, and many similar behind the scene updates that will broaden your gaming enjoyment here on GoldToken. See if you can guess what's been done! This massive backend overhaul is just the beginning. Next, Mecir will begin to work on the suggestions made in the GoldToken team working in The GoldToken Capitulum Club. The Capitulum team has drawn up an extensive series of plans for the most important changes to you players. No promises we can make all changes, but we will do our best! So team, it's time to finish organizing your wiki's.

Is GoldToken a great place to play your favorite games? Absolutely! Does GoldToken have room for improvement? Absolutely! Unfortunately, as much as we'd like to wiggle our nose and have everything done at once, we simply are unable. GoldToken is a website run and managed by players like you. A big to everyone from our news team, club owners, presidents, DB hosts, tournament organisors and site polsters, GoldToken would be nothing without you! These players wanted to make a difference, and they have! You won't find the will to make it happen with the warm family feeling any place else. We are all GoldToken kindred!

I encourage anyone interested in making a difference to get active and become a part of a team working to help make the appropriate changes needed. GoldToken is what you help make it. Our current priorities are based on our site revision. Next, it's a list of features and changes listed in The GoldToken Capitulum Club. Following that, we are planning on a gaming commision of sorts to edit rules, decide on playing issues, bugs/or not and that sort of thing. Who would like in? Send GoldToken Support a note if interested.

• Moderations

Of importance, are website moderations. This month we will turn out a new moderation tool, . All reports will be seriously evaluated. Players who abuse this pending new tool will lose their ability to report bad posts. And, sorry; you will only be able to report a post once lol.

Please note that along the same line of thinking, from this day forward, players that repeatedly & repetitively vote anothers posts and photos without warrant will find themselves chumped to that player automatically. What can I say lol. If you don't like someone, get over it, don't go vote all their stuff.

• Getting Older

While we all wish we could remain 25, it's next to impossible in todays world. Jeff and I plan on retiring in a few years, and really want to spend some time riding & camping the hills of Colorado (or Michigan, or New Mexico, or...) on horseback, which isn't very conductive for website management. (hey hey, no jumping for joy, you aren't getting rid of me lol) With this in mind, I have taken on a family member in our support team. Please be patient with him. Just know you are in good hands!

Best Recipe Contest

July's winner is: Seafood Spinach and Artichoke Dip

• Submitted by Cheetah

Ingredients

2 cups of canned crab (or artificial crab chopped)
2 cans of artichoke hearts in water
1 can water chestnuts
1 package frozen chopped spinach
3 gloves garlic chopped (or minced garlic)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup Romano cheese
1 teaspoon parsley (I don't use it but if you like parsley add it)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon spicy mustard (I use Dijon)
1/ 1/2 cup mayonnaise
dash of salt and pepper

Directions

Chop the artichoke hearts, garlic, water chestnuts put in a large bowl and add the crab meat.
Add well drained spinach to the bowl and the rest of the Ingredients, mix well.

Put mixture in a glass baking dish like a 9" pie pan if you have one and top with more cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes.

1. What brought you to GoldToken?

I was playing on another game site and was told about this site. I did not move completely over until Dominoes where offered, love that game. Been here ever since and do not intend to ever leave, so you're gonna have to put up with me

How'd you choose your name for GT?

Its a nick for both my first name and last name

2. What interests you most on GT?

The members, some of the best people I have ever met are in this site from all over the world.

favorite game here?

Not sure I have a favorite have actually found a couple of games that I had not played before and love them.

3. What state or country do you reside in?

I am in a very hot July Texas

What in your state or country do you think tourists should definitely see?

Oh wow so many awesome places here, just took a trip to Carlsbad Cavern, was awesome. The Grand Canyon is breath taking. Just way too many to mention. I have been across the U.S. many times.

4. What hobbies do you have?

Gardening I love but am wearing myself out right now trying to keep enough water on them, come on Fall

Also love bowling, I am on several (probably too many) leagues right now. 

5. Children? Grandchildren?

3 Daughters who blessed me with 8 grand babies, now I am counting great grand babies, so far up to 10 there - I am truly blessed in my life with my family.

6. Do you work?

what kind of work do/did you do?

I am retired, came out for awhile and volunteered at our local food bank for about 4 years, I am retired again

7. Any pets?

I have four rescue cats and one older dog. They are my companions and my loves.

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50?

Oh I am definitely over 50 but still going strong

Female

9. What's the farthest you've been from home?

I have been a lot of places, not sure which would be the farthest actually, maybe Tangiers. 

10. If you could be anywhere right now where would that be?

I would love to have a house on top a mountain, probably would never leave..

11. Favorite season?

Spring, love the smell of the dirt when I am gardening.

12, Favorite movie?

Die Hard - have to watch that movie at least once a month.

Hmmm, I guess that would be Jeff Goldblum

I loved the 70's music. Music can change my mood. The Bee-Gees, Fleetwood Mac or The Eagles can get me smiling in nano second

I would love to have met Jesus, King Solomon, Abraham Lincoln, Al Capone. I know a real variety here but hey they intrigue me.

Testimonial Of The Month

Hi My name is RabidWolff of the Wolf Pack and I am addicted to GoldToken.

My story starts the same as so many others, playing at IYT and then learning about GoldToken from there. It only took two or three months of playing at GoldToken for me to say a final goodbye to IYT and I have never looked back. I joined GoldToken in March of 2001 because it was the friendliest game site I had ever been on, and then when clubs were introduced... well let's just say that was the icing on the cake!

The site was so much smaller back then and Chad was trying to get people to start up Clubs. A couple of us were talking back & forth and decided to start a club and we named it The Wolf Pack. Of course things were different back then... each club could only have one game (and there were no variants). So there were actually many Wolf Pack Clubs, one for each game type that we played. Eventually GT changed the programming and we were able to have ONE club that included all the games, so we merged all of these smaller Wolf Pack clubs into the one larger club, that is now The The Wolf Pack Club

GoldToken is a second home for me and The The Wolf Pack Club is a second family! I am disabled, so my free time is mostly spent watching tv or on GoldToken. I have met so many wonderful people here on GT and have seen so many changes (improvements) on this site. I'm excited for what the future holds for GoldToken!

Best Nugget

August's contest is the Best Nugget submitted throughout the month. The winner will be chosen by poll and announced in next month's newsletter. Winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two month Silver membership.

Nuggets articles give all the players an opportunity to write various tutorials, strategy guides, and other materials related to playing each of our many games, as well as general information about out various site features. Once approved, the new Nugget article will be added to the appropriate category for all the players to see.

Searching and sorting functionality is also available, allowing you to easily find what you are looking for.

Guest and Wood level players can submit one Nugget per month. Players with a Silver membership or higher can submit as many articles as they want.

When submitting articles, please be sure to only submit content that you have written yourself, or that you have a permission from its author to post here. Citations and links are obviously fine, as long as they do not lead to inappropriate content.

The Astronomy Club
On August 21, 2017, millions of people across the United States will see nature's most wondrous spectacle — a total eclipse of the Sun. It is a scene of unimaginable beauty; the Moon completely blocks the Sun, daytime becomes a deep twilight, and the Sun’s corona shimmers in the darkened sky.

A total solar eclipse is unlike anything you've seen in your life. As totality approaches, you will see the astonishing sight of day turning to night and the Sun's corona blazing in the sky. This is truly a great American eclipse because totality will sweep the nation from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Nearly everyone in the US can reach this total solar eclipse within one day's drive.

The The Astronomy Club here at Goldtoken has been preparing, discussing and getting excited about this wonderful event and we even have a tournament underway named after it. Some members will be in attendance on the path of totality to report to club members.

We await this momentous event with anticipation and our spirits will soar with the majesty of it!!!!!!

Like many owners, berecca recalls exactly when her club was founded, The Berecca's Variety Club started 4th October 2012. I asked about the name, which has an appealing old-fashioned feel, “I wanted a club that played a variety of games so it made sense to name it that.” she explained. It lives up to it’s intent, “No special games, I try to set up a lot of different games, new ones and the favorites.” So far, it’s been rewarding and those in her club are appreciative, “Having my Members behind me, a lot of them thank me for getting the games set up and for giving them the reminders for the invites.”
berecca runs the club completely on her own, with no officers, which is rare. It can also lead to amusing moments “The funny times are when I make a mistake and I have a few of my members get me back on the straight and narrow by messaging me telling me about the mistake or also letting me know if a game needs moving on.”
Of the club she says, “Its not changed too much, except possibly for the lack of interest in a good share of the members, the Club has 75 members but I would say that maybe only half of them play the games!” She would like that to change in the future, along with her plans “To keep striving to set up a variety of games that all can play and enjoy and also I would like to get more Club vs Club Challenges.”
