• Join now to play in GoldToken's 2021 Winter Olympics!

You are invited to play in GoldToken’s premier winter tournament, the 2021 Winter Olympic Games!

This is a set of automated tournaments pitting player against player and team against team. Each player chooses which game types to play and how many games to play.

If interested, please join The GoldToken's Olympics Master Club! Click the link and look for the "invitations" box on the right-hand side of your screen, then click "yes" to join. If on a mobile device, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “yes” to join. That's all you need to do to declare your desire to play - no need to send a PM or post a message on the discussion board. Please stay in the Master Club until the games begin.

Note: If you have joined the club in the past, you will need to re-join. The club is emptied prior to each new Olympics set-up.

Team assignments will be made in the coming weeks, and you'll be invited to join your specific team's club then. At that time, you will be able to sign up for the games you wish to play. Players can sign up for as few or as many games as they care to, subject to membership restrictions. The first batch of games will begin in January (exact date to be announced soon).

• New Game Variant - Gami: Stockade

We are pleased to announce a new game variant is available! Fian is the creative genius behind the rules for the Gami game, as well as this variant. This version begins with all 24 cards face up in the "stockyard" and players take turns choosing cards. Be careful, though! If your opponent picks up a card that forms a gami with any other two cards in his or her hand, he or she gets to remove any one card from your hand. December's game of the month is Ludocrous! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The Game of the Month - Dec 2021 - Ludocrous Tournament!

It's a race to get your four playing pieces onto the board and then around it and into your "home" space. Check out the Rules of Ludocrous for more information.

Best Recipe Contest

November's winner is: Leftover Turkey Sliders

• Submitted by Gilbertei

Ingredients
6 – 8 slider rolls (either Kings Hawaiian or regular slider rolls) sliced in half
Cooked turkey, ham or other lunchmeats
Provolone cheese
Cranberry relish
Melted butter – ¼ cup or as needed
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp poppy seeds

Directions:
Coat baking pan with a butter or oil spray to prevent sticking. Line up the rolls in the pan with the tops open. Mix the melted butter, garlic and onion powders and poppy seeds. Brush the inside of the rolls lightly with the butter mixture. Lay in thin slices of turkey (or ham or lunchmeat) and add in a thin slice of cheese or two. Close up the sandwich and brush with the remaining butter mixture. Cover with foil. Bake covered in a 400° oven for about 15 minutes, uncover and continue to bake for another 5 minutes. Serve with cranberry relish.

This is a very forgiving recipe, so use what you have on hand. Leftover turkey is wonderful!

As a Christmas bonus, everyone who enters a recipe in December will receive one of our new Christmas tokens, so don't forget to get those Christmas dessert recipes in!

Can you believe it? It's almost Christmas time already! (unknown photo) I hope all GoldToken players have a wonderful, joyous Christmas. A special goes out to all the Pony Up! players! It wouldn't be possible without you!

The Pony Up! board had various contests for November with riddles, optical illusions, captions, turkey memes and more with tokens and golderos given out to all the winners. The favorite contest appeared to be naming the super large canine with such an appropriate name picked out from our winner and the jingles contest:
My Bologna Has a First Name, It's O-S-C-A-R. Remember that one? It was the winner for the jingle contest. Now, how many are singing that in their head right now?

We would like to say to Sir-Zane for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.

1. What brought you to GoldToken, and how'd you choose your name for GT?

• I was introduced to GT by a woman I met in a chat room. I loved how "family friendly" it is. The nickname evolved from a character from a fav book, "On A Pale Horse".(unknown photo) I was originally Thanatos, and in the book Thanatos (The Grim Reaper) was a Mortal named Zane.

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• I think All Aboard is my fav game, though Domination is a very close second.

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• I live in West Virginia, USA. And, except for the largest cities, the entire state is worth visiting. The views are breathtaking year round.

4. What hobbies do you have?

• My hobbies are playing games on the internet, reading and watching documentaries.

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• I have 1 Daughter, aged 20.

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• I'm now retired, disabled due to heart issues. My primary career path was HVACR, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. I also usually had a 2nd job, at least part time. Cashier at convenience stores, or cooking in a restaurant, usually a very high end, local one.

7. Any pets?

• I have one cat, named Tris. We adopted her 7 years ago from the local shelter.

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• I'm 54, and Male

9. Favorite food? (do you have a recipe you'd like to share?)

• Fav food is pizza, (unknown photo) although I enjoy a lot of others. As to recipes, I just kind of wing it most of the time. Using whatever I have to hand.

10. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• Furthest from home would be Bangor, Maine.

11. If you could be anywhere right now where would that be?

• I'd love to be on a Caribbean island, on the beach.

12. Favorite season?

• I think spring is MY fav season. Not a fan of cold, lol.

13. Favorite movie? Favorite TV show?

• Fav movie/show would both be any iteration of Star Trek. Also love Star Wars etc, and Firefly/Tranquility

14. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be?

• HMMM, hard one. R.A.Heinlien probably

Testimonial Of The Month

Way back in 2000 I reunited with a fellow I had gone steady with in high school some 42 years earlier and we married. He played chess and was surprised when I mentioned I had always wanted to learn to play chess. One of my sons had somehow come across GoldToken and mentioned it to me so in September of 2001 I joined GoldToken to learn to play chess with my son and surprise my husband. Sadly, I lost my husband in 2008 and that's when I found a "world" of support from my friends here at GoldToken. It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about all the messages I received. So it should be no surprise that some 20 years later I'm still here on GoldToken playing all kinds of games and making friends with people from all over the world! I live in the country and GoldToken is my outlet to the outside world. I had joined many clubs and when Scoopdedew needed help in her club she asked me if I'd help her. When she passed away I couldn't let the club dissolve so that was my first venture as a club owner. Somehow I happily became involved helping many other clubs set up and keep their tourneys running. GoldToken is a large part of my heart which breaks every time we lose a member. This isn't a game site....it's a family.
