Links to other Wiki boards

To link to another wiki page you use the square brackets ~~~> [ . ] <~~~

There MUST be a space between any text within the brackets and the brackets themselves.
[This will not work ] - [ Neither will this]

[ This one works ] <~~~Placing your pointer here underlines the link.
Note - It will only take you to another wiki page if it has already been defined as a wiki page. A 'live' page link is blue.

Links in clubs

Any links to wiki pages that you make within a club will remain within the club. No non-members will be able to view these pages.

In order to link to the Main Site wikis outside the club you must insert Main: before the wiki name, as in... [ Main: Wiki Start Page ], otherwise a new wiki will be defined within your club. Use Main to link outside from:- club wikis, disussion boards or the club members' page.

In order to link to a club wiki from outside the club, precede the wiki name with the club name and a colon
[ GoldToken: Wiki Start Page ]
Note that if you are not a member of the club, when you follow the link, you will be redirected to a main site wiki with the same name.

Links in messages and on games

Main site links will work in messages and games.
It is not possible to send a club link.

To link to club pages from a message or game:
Go to the page you wish to link to and copy the complete http//:address (At the top of the page in your browser's address bar).
Go to your message/game and paste the link.

This is the http link for this page:
http://www.goldtoken.com/games/wiki?wiki=Spaces,%20lines%20and%20links;ref=Getting%20Started

Note: This method can also be used for sending a precise game position... eg move 24
(The game# takes you to the most recent position).

  • { Board: General Chat } ~~~> General Chat
• Clubs
  • { Club:GoldToken } ~~~> The GoldToken Club
    • (The and Club is added if your club doesn't already contain these words)
    • For difficult clubs - ones that don't seem to work use # and the club number - as in { Club#1234 }
    • To find the number hold your pointer over the club's name. The number should appear at the bottom of your browser. GoldToken is 1190.
• Tournaments
  • { Tournament#1234 } ~~~> The October Trax 2006 Tournament
• Ladders
• { Ladder:Backgammon } = Backgammon Ladder
• { Ladder:American Rummikub } = American Rummikub Ladder
• Games
  • { Game#1234567 } ~~~> #1234567
• Names
  • Chad ~~~> Chad
    • For difficult names - ones that don't seem to work use # and the player number - as in { Player#1234 }
    • To find the number hold your pointer over the player's name. The number should appear at the bottom of your browser. Chad is 6.
• Your name - no need to type it every time!
  • { Me } ~~~> Your name appears when you hit save.

Links to the web

• All web links must start with http:// and end with a forward slash ~~~> /
  • http://www.wikipedia.com doesn't work.
  • http://www.wikipedia.com/ does.
• Longer links that already contain the forward slash after the main part (.com, .org, .net etc) do not need another at the end.
  • http://www.goldtoken.com/wiki.cgi is fine

Lines

Placing three or more dashes at the beginning of a line, with nothing else on the line, will generate a complete unbroken horizontal line.

Leave TWO spaces between vertical pipes and the spaces will be filled.
