We would like to say to grammajo for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.


1. How'd you choose your name for GT?

• I think I chose grammajo because I suppose that day my imagination was on holiday and couldn't think of anything else at the time; and that is what my grandson calls me.

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• I like most of the dice games (unknown photo), tabula and cribbage.

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• I live outside of Saint John New Brunswick Canada. Originally from southern Ontario. All of Canada is beautiful, so it depends if you like the country or the city.

4. What hobbies do you have?

• I like to read , garden , do home repairs (though sometimes that is more out of necessity when you live in a 50 year old mobile home) (unknown photo)

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• I have 2 sons , and a stepdaughter , 1 grandson.

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• I am semi-retired from being a home care worker (23 years) (unknown photo) (unknown photo) I also clean house and do yard work (unknown photo) for another lady privately.

7. Any pets?

• 2 cats at the moment; 1 we adopted and 1 that adopted us.

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• I am a fairly fit, 66 yr old female. Thankfully, no major health issues.

9. Favorite food?

• Almost anything homemade. (unknown photo)

10. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• I have been to Alberta from Ontario; and Saskatchewan from New Brunswick.

11. If you could be anywhere right now, where would that be?

• I'm a home girl; not really big on traveling.

12. Favorite season?

• Spring , then Fall , Winter and Summer are about even.

13. Favorite movie?

• I can't think of any one movie that I might call a favorite.

14. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be ?

• I knew my paternal grandparents, though they died when I was young. I think I would like to meet my maternal grandparents, who both died before my parents met and married.

I started GT originally in January 2000, when I got my first WebTV... I made a lot of friends here, some are long passed, the rest are still with me today. I took a hiatus for a few years, and when I returned I had a different email address, and forgot my password, so I started out with a new joined date. I still consider myself a 23 year veteran of GT, regardless. I have met a few GT Members in person, which was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. GT is like an extended family. We all have our talents, occupations, hobbies, and the friendships that feed the stories.
GT is the first thing I go to when I wake up, and the last thing I do before bedtime.

Contest of the Month

Best New Game Design

October's contest is for the Best New Game Design submitted during the month of October.

There are a number of steps involved in creating a new board game. A new game design can be a variation of a current game or entirely new, but it must be original and not a game found anywhere else. Start with variations of games that you love, that you loved as a child etc. Work out what makes these games fun, what’s wrong with these games, or what could be better. Look at all different kinds of games from many different genres. This is the most fun part of game design. We hope you enjoy planning your entry!

You can include your own graphics, opt to use graphics already available on GoldToken, or if chosen as the winning entry, possibly have your graphics designed by our professional graphic artists. All entries will be reviewed for playability, and judged by GoldToken's Graphic Arts team. The winning game will be announced in November's newsletter.

The contest winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two-month Silver membership, and see their new game added to GoldToken's venue of games (as long as it is feasible to code), sometime during the next year.

Entries must be entirely new games or variants not seen anywhere else, and be submitted to GoldToken's Newshound no later than 11:59 PM, Pacific Time, Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
