Paraprosdokian Sentences - A paraprosdokian is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to reframe or reinterpret the first part. It is frequently used for
humorous or
dramatic effect. In other words, for our purposes on GoldToken, finish the sentence the host provides with a funny

or dramatic

ending.

One of the winning para sentences was: At My Age, Getting Out of Bed...
is a full time job!
You enter by replying to the original and consecutive player posts, with just your ending to the sentence. We have some really funny sentences coming from our players that give new meaning to the original sentence. Sentences are put up for votes in a poll, and the winner receives a token made especially for the board. Stop on by, all new players' entries to the board receive a complimentary token.

A friend of mine, Gabbybrook, plays here and she invited me to play. I joined in November of 2017. I enjoy the variety of games that are offered. Everyone here is so helpful and I have learned quite a few new games. I enjoy the Mahjong and Cribbage clubs. I just started doing tournaments and they are a lot of fun and you meet such nice people. Keep playing.

Best Blog Contest
A blog (according to Wikipedia) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.
If you decide to enter the world of blogging, you should decide what kind of blog you want your blog to be. What do you want to write about? Are you going to write about many things or something specific? Decide how often you are going to add entries - every day, once a week, once a month, etc.
Once you have decided what you are going to write about, you need to think about how you are going to write it or enter it into your blog, be it by text, by pictures or even external links. A great blog will take advantage of all of the above things. Your blog story or viewpoint can be enhanced and made much more enjoyable and interesting to read by the use of pictures and links.
Write about what you are passionate about, write about what you know and make sure you know what you are writing about. For the more serious bloggers, be aware that you won't be taken very seriously if your blog is full of grammar and spelling mistakes. So make sure you spellcheck.
No matter your blog content, people will continue to come back to read it as long as you continue to make it interesting.
- The contest winner will be chosen by poll on the Blog Entries DB, based on entries submitted this month. Entries must be posted no later than 11:59pm, Pacific Time, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, to be eligible for voting.
- The winner will receive 5 Golderos and a Profile Token!
We have a winner for the "Best Short Story" contest!

to
Gameheart, who submitted this original short story with the theme, "In the Year 2050":
Look Before You Leap
By
Gameheart
In 2050 NASA announced they had developed the first stardrive, utilising newly-discovered foldspace physics.
The announcement was met with some ridicule by the news media and various space agencies world-wide who felt they had missed the beat somehow and wished to put a damper on the competition.
Nevertheless, by late 2050 NASA upped the game by launching a test vehicle into high earth orbit with standard rocketry then hit the GO button, which saw the bulbous and smooth ship suddenly wink out a reappear in Mars orbit five seconds later, verified by NASA tracking and the ships onboard systems.
The world went hysterical. We were no longer tied to this small system. We could now dream of venturing to the previously unreachable stars. Mankind had grown up.
However, NASA was not too forthcoming on how they had achieved this. Being the official space agency of one country and also being tied financially to that country , meant that this country now had access to the galaxy and all the riches, both knowledge and physical it contained, enormously boosting their influence on world events and giving their economy a massive gain which might never be caught.
While various international agencies whined and wheedled in equal measure and stocks went up and down like yo-yos many governments decided they simply had to have this gem of achievement any way they could.
The resulting attacks, both physical and electronic, on NASA by various hostile governments and their proxies led to a blanket ban on information dispersal and cooperation with any space agency.
It also led to many countries testing the resolve of NASA'S host country to the point where the swapping of missiles came up for discussion.
This cooled down the more hotheaded miscreants to the point where sanity could, once again, raise its dizzy head and set about trying to create an equitable solution for all.
It was while a heady mix of relief and hope was sweeping the world that the first alien ship landed in Geneva and the occupants told the assembled throng that we would not be allowed to infest the stars with our juvenile and misguide behaviour and any further attempts to use the stardrive would result in the general annihilation of our population.
They proceeded to demonstrate their power by making the Himalayas disappear.
With the result we are now back to lightning the blue touch paper.
For now.....
The end
